Landscape protection areas

Landscape protection areas are large, mostly confluent landscape units that are rich in natural and special landscape features. According to Act No. LIII of 1996 on Nature Conservation in Hungary, “the interaction of people and nature has brought about a distinct aesthetic, cultural and natural unit in landscape protection areas; their primary purpose is the preservation of landscape and natural values”.

The establishment of landscape protection areas is approved by the minister responsible for nature conservation affairs, while the manager of these areas is always the national park directorate of the region.

Landscape protection areas within the Kiskunság National Park are as follows:

• Pusztaszer Landscape Protection Area
• Mártély Landscape Protection Area
• Körös-ér Landscape Protection Area
